Undefeated kickboxing sensation Thian de Vries scored an improbable comeback win earlier today (Sat., May 31, 2025) at K-1 Beyond from inside Yokohama Buntai in Yokohama, Japan, stopping veteran Mahmoud Sattari with a wild knockout just 64 seconds into the first round.
In case you didn’t know, de Vries is one of the fastest rising stars in kickboxing today. Coming into Saturday’s main event fight for the vacant K-1 cruiserweight title, de Vries had posted a 29-0 career record with 26 knockouts. What’s even more impressive is that “Tarzan” just turned 24 years old this past April. He’s easily one of the most promising young strikers in the sport.
Unfortunately for de Vries, things did not go as planned in the opening moments of his cruiserweight title fight against Sattari. That’s because Sattari connected on a beautiful overhand right that badly hurt de Vries and sent him crashing to the canvas. The Japanese crowd was stunned, but what happened next would leave them in an absolute frenzy.
After de Vries returned to his feet Sattari was there to meet him with hooks to the head, heavy body punches, and a whipping front kick to the face. De Vries ate everything, ultimately created some space, and uncorked a perfectly-placed left hand that crumbled Sattari in the center of the ring.
It was an incredible comeback finish to say the least and an entire sequence that lasted just over one minute. If that doesn’t get the blood flowing for the combat weekend then nothing will.
